Dylan Foskett is a Research Assistant at the Virology Research Laboratory. He completed his Bachelor of Medical Science in 2019 and his Bachelor of Science (Class 1 Honours) in 2020, both at the University of New South Wales. Dylan completed his Honours research project at the Virology Research Laboratory, under the supervision of Professor Maria Craig and Dr Ki Wook Kim, where he used Next-Generation Sequencing to characterise the early-life gastrointestinal virome of infants who are at genetic risk for type 1 diabetes as part of a wider, national study, the Environmental Determinants of Islet Autoimmunity (ENDIA).
Following the completion of Dylan’s Honours year, he returned as a Research Assistant to continue working within the Virology theme of the ENDIA study. He has an active involvement in the processing of participant clinical samples, library preparation for Next-Generation Sequencing, post-sequencing bioinformatic analyses and sample management in collaboration with other study sites across NSW.
